The training went well. The only downside was that unfortunately, I sat waiting for 40 minutes while person 1 and 2 both had an opportunity to both be volunteers then clients. I had only 6 minutes to be a volunteer and then had no chance to be a caller. I would recommend rotating the positions in order to be more effective as person 1 and 2 can go, then 2 and 3 then 1 and 3.

The self- paced training was easy to follow and understand. I appreciate the allotment of 12 hours towards the completion of this training which counts towards my Co-op student placement hours.

I prefer a face-to-face training session. But this would not be possible currently. So given the limitations, it was a very engaging session. I feel pretty clear about the process.

The training content was very well laid out and easy to understand. I enjoyed watching the videos and learning, rather than simply having to read everything. In terms of possible improvements, I would suggest proof reading the training content for spelling errors. In addition, I think that the quizzes were very short. I think that maybe the quizzes longer and a tad more difficult, would create more engagement during training.

There are a few considerations here: i) you provide your trainees with a literacy quiz that is not only intimidating but also contradictory due to the illiteracy throughout the videos and quizzes; ii) your organization benefits from donations directly deposited via certified listeners volunteers, an alternative consideration will be to encourage your volunteers to raise donations within their community; iii) during the interview process, the interviewee discloses the $90 cover fee for training and I’m not sure why this mentioned and or why $90 suffices. This technique may make others feel as if your company is doing something “above and beyond” for their volunteers and may, in turn, make the individual applying for the position to feel as if they owe the company back (the donation). Food for thought 🙂

What I appreciate the most about the training was that the instructions were clearly worded and straightforward. I seldom felt confused about the material I was being provided. My only notes for improvement would be minor typos, as well as I felt the Youtube medium for the chat training might be better consolidated into one longer video with sub tabs. I found the chat training session a useful component in engaging with the content, as it provided an idea of how the system really works.
